Welcome, I am Florian, and this is my personal website and developer blog, where I write about my free-time software projects. Sharing my experience with others allows me to get a deeper understanding of these topics. It also helps me to improve my writing skills, and get in touch with other people who have the same interests. So I always welcome feedback, questions, or other comments which you can leave at the end of each post. You can also directly send me an e-mail.

What I Do

Currently, I am studying for a PhD in computer science at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. My supervisor is Prof. Hanspeter Mössenböck, and my research targets compiler technologies, language interpreters and virtual machines. I also teach and give programming courses for other computer science students.

We have an ongoing cooperation with Oracle Labs and work on GraalVM, which is a polyglot virtual machine that executes programs of different languages. In particular, my research focuses on improving partial evaluation, a technique used by the Graal compiler to transform the existing interpreters of the virtual machine into efficient code for a given user program.
